OK, I'm on the personalized tellthefamily.com site, now what?

From here you can get the following information: What happened (Why the patient is in the Hospital); What is the last updated Status; Visiting Hours and instructions; Link to the Message Centre.

What is the Message Centre?

The Message Centre is a communication tool. It is otherwise known as a Blog or Discussion Board. It allows you to Post Replies to be passed on to the patient, or communicate back and forth with other family members about what is happening and when.

Why not use the phone?

Often times the immediate family is spending hours at the hospital, undergoing grueling decision making and very painful feelings. To then spend more time talking to friends and family about it, adds to the stress. With the Message Centre, the information is able to be passed along, in a non-stressful manner. Often the updates will come from non-immediate family that have visited.

I prefer the personal touch.

Of course, not everyone is going to be computer savvy, or would prefer to hear the information first hand. That of course can still be done, however, often there are family members that live out of province or country. This allows them to communicate as well, without the Long Distance phone calls.

Once I'm in the Message Centre, then what?

You will see two main topics. Current Updated Status and Thoughts, Prayers and Well Wishes. Depending on the nature of your visit, you can click on either topic to see the messages that have been posted.

How do I post a Reply?

You will see on the left hand side a button that reads "Post Reply". Simply Click it, and follow the entry form. When you have typed your reply, click submit.
